Before you get started, please have the following documents ready on your device:

Proof of Residency (Choose one of the following):

  • Current New Jersey Driver’s License
  • Valid New Jersey Driver's Insurance ID Card
  • Lease Agreement (first page only)
  • Current Utility Bill

Active Vehicle Registration for the following categories:

  • Residential Parking
  • Overnight Parking
  • Villa Terrace Parking
  • Raymond Terrace Parking
  • Combo/Commuter discount for electric or hybrid vehicles
  • Type P - Parker Avenue
  • Type C - Overnight Parking

To receive a parking permit, your vehicle must be registered to the address on file. If you are leasing a vehicle, please upload a full copy of the registration showing the vehicle details and your address.

For Merchant Parking:
Business owners/managers are encouraged to register employees collectively under one reference number. If done individually, please include your business name in the application and upload your active Driver’s License and Job ID (if issued—if not, just your Driver’s License).

Important Notes:

  • In the Township of Maplewood, you cannot apply for a parking permit for commercial vehicles or vehicles with out-of-state plates unless the vehicle is leased.
  • The Jitney should not be used for transportation to Maplewood schools; an adult must accompany children who ride the Jitney.

Please Note:

  • Payment Information: Parking fees are assessed per license plate. Jitney passes are sold per person. Accepted payment methods include cash (exact change only), check, money order, debit card, credit card, ACH/e-check, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or FSA/HSA cards and commuter cards (use of FSA/HSA or commuter cards is not guaranteed to be accepted). Checks and money orders should be made payable to the Township of Maplewood.
  • Discounts:
    • A 25% discount on Commuter and Combo Parking passes is available to hybrid or electric vehicle owners. Unexpired vehicle registration is required to confirm eligibility.
  • How to Receive Discount: Discounts are applied manually on the backend. To ensure you receive the discount, it is recommended that you select “Pay In-Person.” You will then be sent a payment link reflecting the discounted price once the discount has been inputted.

Refunds:

Refunds are issued on a case-by-case basis, considering factors such as the length of time since purchase and the applicant's history of refund requests. Please note the following:

  • Transaction Fees: Transaction fees are non-refundable once online payments have been processed.
  • Refund Processing:
    • Online Payments: Refunds for online payments can be processed within 48 hours, provided there is no need for further investigation.
    • Check or Cash Payments: Refunds for payments made by check or cash will be processed by check and may take up to three weeks to be issued.

If you decide to pay online, there is a transaction fee, and if you decide against paying online after clicking the link, your application may be lost. However, when you pay in person by exact cash, check or money order, there isn’t a transaction fee. Please note, if you apply for a permit you don’t qualify for and pay online, your refund will not include the transaction fee – review the “Instructions & Ordinances” tab thoroughly.
